Wondering what S.E.O. is? Scroll down.

Hosted by Mary Owusu (more about me below)
P.S. Registration is limited and will close when we hit the max.

My goal is that you'll walk away from this session confident in your ability to use Google to maintain or scale your business right now. (Yes, right now).

What is S.E.O. anyway?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is the process of getting your company, product or service to show up at the top of Google’s free results. For example, if you sell “air compressors” it means when customers search Google (or Bing, etc.) for “air compressors” they will see your company at the top of the search results.

The higher your business shows up on Google (or Bing, etc.), the more FREE visitors you get to your website–and usually that means you get more customers and more revenue.

If you’ve ever tried to learn SEO on your own, it can seem really confusing. But I’m here to tell you–it’s not.

In this session, I’ll answer any questions you have about how SEO works and how you can use it to your advantage, especially right now.

No question is too silly!

I’m looking forward to hearing from you LIVE. So make sure you come with your questions! Here are some examples to get your juices flowing:

  • How can SEO help me maintain or scale my business right now?
  • How do I actually do SEO, and how long does it take to get results?
  • How do I know if the SEO company I hired is doing a good job?
  • I heard X about Google. Is it true?
  • How do search engines (like Google ) really work?

What's the format?

This will be a LIVE question-and-answer (Q & A) session. So sign off your last Zoom call, get some pants on, and settle in with your favorite wind-down drink/snack. All I ask is that you come with at least one question to ask. Who knows: your question might help someone else!

Who should attend?

  • You're a business wanting to drive free traffic (+ leads and phone calls) from Google right now, but you're not sure how.
  • You're a marketing, communications or web professional looking to add SEO to your skillset to make yourself even more valuable.
  • Your business is planning to do a website redesign this year, or is the middle of doing a website redesign right now. (Why this matters: sometimes website projects can destroy your Google rankings and cause you to lose significant web traffic and revenue).

Who should attend? (continued)

  • You're a creator, blogger, or career marketer (brand manager, social media marketer, copy writer, etc.) and you have nagging questions about how SEO impacts what you do.
  • You've hired an SEO company but you're honestly not sure whether or not they're doing a good job.
  • You've tried to learn SEO on your own but it just seems really confusing. (Hint: It's not).

Hi, I'm Mary Owusu

…and I was really nervous about putting something like this together. But I’m trusting my gut.

My story begins in Ghana, but now, I’m living in New York with my husband and three young boys…who are determined to photo-bomb every. single. video meeting I try to have. Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My career track was unconventional (who’s isn’t!), but back in 2002, I discovered the art of search engine optimization and digital marketing–and I haven’t looked back. Over the years, I’ve helped dozens of companies (big and small) get to #1 on Google and multiply their revenue and sales several times over. One large client actually opened up a second warehouse to keep up with demand. I’ve been blessed to receive a number of prestigious awards and accolades for my work (just google “adweek mary owusu”).

But at my core, I’ve always been a teacher. I really enjoy transferring my knowledge to others… And that’s the part of me that’s driving me to do this session.

SEO can seem complicated but trust me, it’s not. Just like trying to get in shape, SEO just takes dedication and consistent effort. If you put in the work, you will get the results. Period.

I worked for years as a digital marketing executive, but now, I’m a full-time college professor. I teach digital marketing to MBA-level students. I also run a business that’s focused on teaching people how to do SEO… which keeps me on my toes about what REALLY works or doesn’t work in digital marketing right now.

I hope I can be of help to you during this session. My goal is that you’ll walk away feeling more confident in your ability to use SEO to maintain or scale your business especially during this uncertain time we’re in. This will definitely be worth your time. Talk soon!
